Sickle Cell Sundays
In 2019, our founder started Sickle Cell Sundays. Each Sunday during September, Sickle Cell awareness month, she hosted events to further education and awareness on Sickle Cell disease and establish community among warriors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. In 2020, Sickle Cell Sundays moved to the Clubhouse app. From 2020 to 2021, weekly discussions covered various topics surrounding Sickle Cell disease, dating, transitioning out of pediatrics, mental health, traveling, and more. The community grew to over 2,100 members, with participants from the US, UK, India, Nigeria, and beyond. As the world reopened and Clubhouse usage declined, our founder began working to bring Sickle Cell Sundays back as a video podcast series, allowing people to watch and listen to topics surrounding Sickle Cell disease, making this condition more relatable and human.
